Apple first ecommerce site to bag top D&AD award

Apple has bagged a Design & Art Directors’ Black Pencil for its ecommerce site. According to D&AD, it’s the first time a commerce site has won the award. Previous honours have gone to corporate sites, such as ad agency Leo Burnett’s, which bagged a black pencil in 2006. Google developing iPad rival- report

Google is working on a tablet computer to rival Apple’s iPad, according to press reports. The Wall Street Journal reports that the web giant is collaborating with Verizon wireless, the largest US wireless carrier. Apple to close music service Lala at the end of May

Music streaming service Lala, which Apple bought last year, is to shut at the end of the month. A message posted on the music service’s website this weekend said, “Lala is shutting down. The Lala service will be shut down on May 31st, 2010. Apple iPad to be handled with care, publishers warned

Magazine industry experts were warned today that while the Apple iPad may offer a host of publishing opportunities, these may come with strings attached.
