The Independent launches iPhone app

The Independent has produced an iPhone app following the launch of its mobile site.

The free app offers access to 12 sections from the newspaper including world and UK news, sport, business and environment.

Articles can be downloaded to be read when the phone has no internet connectivity.

Jimmy Leach, editorial director for digital at The Independent, said: “We can now offer a premium news service to iPhone users with a stylish and useful app that will be a big hit among our users, while taking our brand to a whole new audience.”
