Reader’s Digest ad director Flora MacMillan leaves after 22 years
Reader’s Digest’s UK advertising director Flora MacMillan is one of nine staff to be made redundant at the publisher since the company’s slide into administration last month. Sky appoints Glen Matchett to lead Sky Movies marketing
Former UKTV marketer Glenn Matchett has been appointed head of movies marketing at Sky, replacing Paul Gilshan who joined The Times in January. In his new role, Matchett will have responsibility for the marketing of Sky’s film proposition, including Sky Movies and Sky Box Office. AAR, which builds relationships between clients and marketing services agencies, has appointed Agency Republic’s Gavin Marshall as head of digital. He replaces Juliet Blackburn, who left AAR in December to join Skype as director of consumer marketing after almost nine years at AAR. Digital agency R/GA London has hired Sam Dallyn as art director to head its Nike account. Dallyn joins R/GA following a three-year spell as art director at website development agency Blast Radius. Adconion boosts UK team
Online ad network Adconion has expanded its UK business, making five new hires as part of plans to boost its global headcount by 50 per cent this year. PR firm Edelman has appointed Richard Sambrook, the BBC’s director of global news, to a global role designed to help clients create and shape content. Van Natta exits MySpace after less than a year
MySpace CEO Owen Van Natta is leaving the social network less than a year after joining. Former Facebook executive Van Natta was brought in last April to replace founders Chris DeWolfe and Tom Anderson as part of a shake up which saw the company shed over a third of its workforce.
