Online PR 'a missed opportunity'

London PR agencies that specialise in online and digital public relations and marketing are ahead of the game, according to a new poll.

Bigmouthmedia's survey revealed that more than half of all agencies that offer online PR are based in London, as well as the more than half that maintain their own blogs.

However, it noted that 79 per cent of the industry's "major players" have not yet developed a set of online and social media services.

Adam Parker, chief executive of online news distribution company webitpr, said: "Despite finding that an increasing number of UK PR professionals are on the ball when it comes to online PR this survey confirms our experience that a high proportion are still more focussed on traditional media."

He said that the question of company attitudes towards online communications should be addressed as it is possibly a reflection of client attitudes to budget allocation.
