Digital company appoint senior search boss

Media communications agency OMD group has appointed a new head of search, according to a report.

Mark Mitchell will have responsibility for paid and natural search across the group, which includes Manning Gottlieb and OMD International as well as OMD UK, according to Brand Republic.

Mr Mitchell takes the place of Laurent Boninfante and will report to Matt Simpson, head of OMD group digital in the UK.

He previously worked as a senior strategic planner with digital marketing company Search Works and has experience running his own business.

In his new post he will develop OMD's strategic approach to search and also lead new business pitches.

Recently OMD UK announced it had retained the £20 million media account for Channel 4. It had previously shared the contract with two other companies - Profero and Michaelides & Bednash.

OMD is owned by Ominicom.
