Sky to simulcast web news show

Digital broadcaster Sky has moved closer to integrating its television and internet operations by dedicating a show on Sky News to the most popular online stories of the day.

The half-an-hour show, to be called Sky.com News, will broadcast four nights a week and will allow the news agenda to be set by online users.

Included in the show, which could boost the digital media industry, will be further analysis of one of the most popular stories, as well as online discussions opened to studio debate. The strand will be simulcast on Sky News and the online site.

Producer of Sky.com News John Jelley said: "Sky.com News marks a radical step forward in merging the boundaries between TV breaking news and the web's news agenda."

Sky recently signed former BBC business editor Jeff Randall to front a weekly half-hour show. Mr Randall is also the editor-at-large at the Daily Telegraph.
