One of the largest and most successful consumer book publishers in the UK is looking for a creative and commercially astute Digital Publisher to drive the company’s innovation of Digital Media products and services.
With the increasing number of creative and commercial opportunities emerging for the use of consumer book material on Digital platforms and Digital devise, our client seek to recruit a Digital Publisher whose goal will be to initiate and develop concepts and ideas that will shape the future of consumer publishing.
You will be tasked with investigating the kinds of Digital platforms that our client should and could provide for authors, to assist them in writing in the ‘Digital age’ and also to engage with audiences in different ways. You will be looking to test new publishing models, to experiment with Digital-only products and services as well as utilising Digital to extend current business models.
Working with external companies, authors and editors, you will come up with new and innovative Digital publishing products and services. Having analysed the feasibility of your proposals you will turn some of these ideas into pilot projects or ventures, therefore you will need to have a strong background in research, writing business cases and conducting feasibility studies, as well as being in tune with what the likely commercial impact of these initiatives will to be.
You will have the full remit of commercialising our client’s assets on Digital platforms with selected partner companies. Additionally, you will be ambassador for Digital publishing initiatives within the group and run the company wide Innovations focus groups.
To be successful in this role you will require an in-depth understand of the Digital media industries and a strong personal network in other media organisations. You will have a questioning, creative mind and an ability to think imaginatively coupled with commercial pragmatism.
This is not solely a strategy setting role but a combination of research, ideas development, business case writing and then implementation. You will be developing the product road map and then managing the successful trial and launch of the products through 3rd parties.
You will have an excellent understanding of what makes a Digital property attractive to the consumer and how to go about creating it across multiple platforms. You will also benefit from previous experience of project or product management.
An affinity with books and the authorial process will be hugely advantageous although you do not necessarily need to have experience in book publishing.
For this role we will also consider individuals who would normally be looking for a high salary than advertised but would consider working a four day week for the same remuneration package.
